4/4/08 – Charlottesville, VA
Our first show of the new spiraling.net era took place last Friday at Tuttle Lounge at the University of Virginia. This was our second trip to Charlottesville, but our first time playing: we were supposed to play an outdoor show at UVA last fall, but a MONSOON that descended upon the area had other plans. Thankfully, our friend Bookie was good enough to have us back for a second go at it. (Thanks, Bukky!) This time, the weather cooperated. Well, that, and we were indoors. So we were cool on all fronts.
We played two sets, which gave us a rare opportunity to mix with the audience during the break. It seems that apart from having pretty high SAT scores, everyone at UVA is really cool and sociable, though some need to develop more of a tolerance for high decibel levels (I’m looking at you, Rebecca.) Speaking of which, kudos go out to everyone on the planning board for doing a great job hosting a loud rock band in a space that was definitely not designed with rock n’ roll in mind.
SPIRALING FUN FACT: Both the University of Virginia and Spiraling were both founded by guys named Thomas. Coincidence? Yeah, pretty much.
